Lacie

Lacie is a spelling of Lacey or Lacy, a name that came into first-name use from a surname. The surname is associated with Lassy in Normandy, so its origin is geographical rather than a literal reference to lace fabric. That place-name history gives Lacie an older foundation than its soft, nickname-like ending might suggest.

Lacy, Lacey, and Lacie preserve the same recognizable name while presenting different endings on the page. If the choice honors a family surname, keeping the inherited spelling may be especially meaningful. As a first name, Lacie can stand independently without a longer formal version. Its combination of a Norman place connection and English personal-name use makes it both a surname choice and an established given-name form.
