Maisyn

Maisyn is a modern spelling of Mason, the English occupational surname for a worker in stone. That gives it a craft-related meaning beneath a form that looks more like contemporary first names. The ai and y change its written character, while the connection with Mason remains central to the usual explanation of its origin.

Maisyn has been used for girls and boys, with the spelling often chosen for girls in American records. Its appearance may also remind readers of Maisie, but similarity on the page does not give the two names the same history. Families who like the sturdy trade association of Mason can use Maisyn to express that connection in a different written form.
