Mickey

Mickey is a familiar form associated with Michael and its feminine relatives, including Michelle and Michaela. Through Michael, it inherits the Hebrew question “Who is like God?” That wording is traditionally rhetorical, expressing that no one is equal to God. Mickey takes the same name family into a shorter, more informal style that has also been used independently.

The strongest popular association is Disney's Mickey Mouse, while actor Mickey Rooney offers a human namesake from film history. Those references can make the name feel immediately recognizable in English-speaking settings. It works as a daily form for a longer family name or as the full name itself. Mickie and Micky are nearby spellings, though Mickey is the version most directly tied to the familiar character.
