Mirabella

Mirabella belongs to the Mirabel family, ultimately drawn from Latin mirabilis, meaning wonderful or worthy of admiration. Its Italian form has a full vowel ending, while Mirabel and Mirabelle show related shapes in other naming traditions. The meaning comes from that Latin adjective rather than from simply joining Mira with the Italian word bella.

Mirabella also occurs as a surname, including that of fashion editor Grace Mirabella, whose name was used for a magazine. That is a separate modern cultural association layered onto the older personal-name family. Mira and Bella can serve as familiar short forms, while the complete Mirabella retains its long-established connection with wonder and admiration.
