Mirabelle

Mirabelle is a French name associated with the Latin word for something marvelous or worthy of wonder. It also names a small plum familiar in French food traditions, giving the same spelling a clear botanical connection. The fruit association and the older adjective offer related but distinct ways to understand its appeal.

Steve Martin used Mirabelle for the central character of Shopgirl, providing a modern literary and film reference. Mirabel and Mirabella are close forms to compare, with different endings and rhythms. A family may choose Mirabelle for its wonder-related meaning, the plum connection, or an existing namesake. Its resemblance to Isabelle does not make it simply an Elizabeth variant; the name has its own route and associations.
