Oslo

Oslo is the name of Norway’s capital, adopted as a short geographical given name. Its older place-name meaning is debated, with interpretations involving a meadow and either a hill or a sacred association. The dependable modern reference is the city itself, so a family’s connection with Norway or with Oslo may be more meaningful than selecting one disputed ancient translation.

The opening and closing o give the spelling an unusually balanced shape, while the name stays brief enough to use without shortening. Ozzie is a possible familiar form if wanted. As a place name, Oslo can mark ancestry, travel, or a significant chapter in family life, keeping a specific location at the center of the personal story.
