Paris

Paris can refer to the French capital or to the prince named Paris in Greek mythology. These are separate historical routes, and the mythological name’s origin is uncertain. A family choosing the city name is making a different connection from one naming after the character associated with Helen and the Trojan War.

The name is used for boys and girls. Paris Hilton provides a familiar modern bearer, while the city may evoke a personal home, visit, or cultural interest. Deciding which reference matters to you helps explain the choice without borrowing an unsupported ancient meaning. The same spelling can therefore carry quite different stories even within one language.
