Sky

Sky is an English nature name taken directly from the visible expanse above the earth. Its meaning is not “scholar,” which belongs to a different name history sometimes connected with Schuyler. Sky can serve as a nickname for Skyler or Schuyler, but that use does not change the ordinary word's meaning.

Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls is a familiar fictional bearer. The spelling Skye adds a separate geographical association with the Scottish island, while Sky most directly preserves the English nature word. Parents may choose it as a complete first name or a concise middle name. Its one syllable and clear imagery do not require a longer formal version or an elaborate translation.
