Tianna

Tianna is a spelling variation of Tiana, a name often used as a short form of Tatiana. Tatiana comes from the Roman family name Tatius, whose original meaning is uncertain. Another possible connection is with Christianna, so a family’s intended longer name matters more than assigning one universal translation.

Tiana, the central character in Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, gives the name family a recognizable modern story. Tianna keeps a different spelling from the character and may suggest a more clearly separated final syllable to English readers. The double n does not add a new meaning, and the character’s royal role does not make princess the name’s literal translation.
