Tommie

Tommie is a familiar form in the Thomas family and can also be connected with feminine forms such as Thomasina and Thomasin. The older Aramaic name behind Thomas means twin. Tommie has been used for both boys and girls, giving it a broader history than a nickname tied to only one longer name.

The spelling has notable bearers in different fields, including Olympic sprinter Tommie Smith and singer Tommie Young. Those examples show its life as a public name beyond the home. Tommy is another established spelling, while Tommie keeps an ie ending familiar from many traditional nicknames. Its meaning remains the inherited twin connection, whether the name is used independently or alongside a longer form.
