Westyn

Westyn is a modern spelling of Weston, an English surname and place name associated with a western town or settlement. The y replaces the second vowel without changing the name’s usual two-syllable rhythm. Its origin remains connected with Weston rather than with a separate word ending in yn.

The visible word west gives the name a directional association, and Wes offers a brief everyday form. Weston preserves the more familiar surname spelling, while Westin is another alternative. These names are useful to compare in writing because they may sound nearly identical when spoken, despite looking noticeably different in a family tree or on official records.
