Micheal

Micheal is an English spelling variant of Michael, whose Hebrew origin is expressed by the question “Who is like God?” The question is traditionally understood as emphasizing God’s uniqueness, rather than claiming that the bearer resembles God. Its religious history comes through Michael, the angel named in biblical tradition.

The spelling places e before a, reversing the order found in Michael. That visible difference can matter when preserving a relative’s exact name, and it does not require treating the name as an error. Mike, Mikey, and Mick belong to the wider Michael nickname family. Micheal also resembles Gaelic forms of Michael, but the unaccented English variant should not automatically be assigned a Gaelic pronunciation.
