Yousef

Yousef is a way of writing the Arabic and Persian form of Joseph in English letters. The older Hebrew name is traditionally interpreted as “God will add.” Yousef is not exclusively Persian: transliteration choices differ across Arabic-speaking and Persian-speaking families, and several spellings can represent the same familiar name.

Yusuf is the prophet whose story forms a chapter of the Quran, including his dreams and their interpretation. Joseph is the corresponding English biblical form, while Youssef offers another common transliteration. The preferred written form can preserve a family or language convention without creating a separate meaning for each spelling.
