Jasmin

Jasmin belongs to the jasmine flower name family, whose word history reaches back to Persian. It appears across languages with different pronunciations and patterns of use. In particular, Jasmin is also an established masculine name in Bosnian contexts, so English expectations around Jasmine do not describe every use of this spelling.

English readers may begin it with a j sound, while a y sound is used in other languages. Jasmine adds a final e, and Yasmin makes the y sound clearer in writing. These forms share the botanical connection, but a family's chosen language and spelling remain meaningful. The plant history is more useful than ranking the variants as more or less elegant.
